The Day You Begin by Jacqueline Woodson

Rafael Lopez’s illustrations in this are fantastic!

The story starts out about how you may feel alone and different but once you start talking to others you learn how you are alike as well. Such a wonderful story to teach diversity.

We need to teach our children that, although we are different there are things that we have in common. This book does a beautiful job at portraying that.
