The Siren by Kiera Cass

The Siren is a love story and the first book written by Kiera Cass. This book has such potential with the ocean being alive and sirens who are given the chance to live instead of die if only they will take 100 year sentence of service to the ocean. They live on land with other humans, although they cannot speak or their words will lead those who hear to drown. They need no food or sleep and nothing able to harm them. To be capable of so much but do so little with that time but club hop, sleep around, travel but see very little, mope and obsess over those dead. so much more could have come from this book.

The ending was not what I was expecting. It was very different from what I normally read. The author explained things instead of letting us see them through the characters. Akinli was nice yes but almost stupid because he didn’t question anything. His family never questions about her either. There was a lot that didn’t make sense. The Ocean is cruel but loves them. They agree to add more time to their sentence for her, even the newest member? Really? Great idea but seems more like a first draft.
